New Delhi: Petroleum Minister Murli Deora has ruled out any price cut in petrol and diesel prices despite the sharp fall in fuel prices. Deora said a review in prices is possible only if international prices of crude fall to $61 to the barrel.
"Fuel price cut is unviable now on the weakening rupee. Oil companies will break even only if India's crude oil falls to $61 per barrel and it is only then that we can review fuel prices in India," he said.
Meanwhile, despite all the turmoil in the aviation sector, Deora said on Friday that airlines were not honouring their payment commitments.
He said Kingfisher Airlines in particular owes Rs 110 crore whereas Jet Airways owes Rs 859 crore for fuel. He also said that cutting taxes on jet fuel is not in his ministry's domain.
